the "search community" subtab lets you search for the name of a person or group on Gavagai. the search results will appear with the match score. you can click on each result to view the user profile.
clicking on the "follow person" icon will add that user to your following list.
following is one-way - the other person doesn't automatically follow you back.
following is similar to "following" or becoming a "fan" on other sites.
if you don't want to follow another person any more, you can stop following by
clicking on the "stop following" icon. the other user will not be notified
that you've stopped following them.
the match scorebar appears under each item. this shows how good of a match the item is for you: lots of black means it's a good match, lots of red - not so much. your matches will get better the more works and collections you rate and add to your favorites, users you follow with, and scenes you join.
you can send a private message to any other user by clicking on the message
icon. this will open a popup where you can enter a short message (up to
255 characters) for the other user. once sent, the message will appear in the
recipient's message list on the right side of the page.
you
on the right is your status panel. this shows information about you. it also shows any messages you've received. when the people you follow do things like release a work or update their profile, you'll get a message about it. this is also where you log out of the site.
you can also update what music you're listening to, what you're reading and
what's currently on your mind by clicking on the edit control. your statuses
will be shown whenever another user views your profile.
